It’s that time again. Yes, again.
Time to just shut down a whole slew of projects that didn’t go anywhere. I’m not even going to tell you what the are/were, because they’re just embarrassing that they even saw the light of day. But, you know, you never know until you try, right?
I’ve got an imperial crap-ton of footage of me trying to fix random stuff, that quite frankly just was discouraging, and I didn’t feel like putting it out there yet. Couldn’t fix some, ordered and received parts and let them sit, got overwhelmed with other stuff and just, yeah. ADHD sucks. It’s like “what’s this? oh shit, I forgot about this. crap. when did I do this? oh. crap.”
But, I’m back in a place where I’m okay with just admitting they failed. There’s more “fixit” stuff coming, and I think I’m going to just start posting about other “non-techy” opinion stuff here, for no other reason than I need to keep the momentum going, and opinion is kinda all I have at the moment. Gonna spin up my personal channel along side the RTL channel, where I’ll try some different stuff and see what sticks, but it’s just going to be stuff I’m interested in and doing.
Ordered up a shiny new 3D printer, with the intent of making some home-grown designs for various things, which means I need to get back on the CAD horse. It won’t be here for a couple of months, so I have time. Honestly 3D printing is fun, the problem is, its been made way too easy. Everyone’s out there selling the same old junk, and while I might dip my toe back into that, its a race to the bottom. Everything is any more.
The “barrier to entry” is basically gone for a lot of that. The new generation of printers is just amazing, and the days of having to learn the ins and outs of it are basically over. AI and automation has created just an endless sea of trash. I’m still using it, don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing technology, but cripes. Just cripes, stop it already. That said, its an incredibly useful tool for learning stuff, and generating “language” i.e. text which of course is what it does best. The image and video stuff I’ve basically given up on because DAMN its nearly impossible to keep up unless you make that your priority. And, when you’re just another candy wrapper in the ocean of the trash it’s impossible to get noticed.
Been learning “no code” automation because I’ve played this game before with tools like LabView and its kinda like “hey this is really familiar.”
As they say, “watch this space.” At least until the next momentum wrecker happens. I’ll share some of the new projects once I think they’re to the point of sharing. Unless they never get there, which, I expect some of them not to.
…
While I’m here, fuck Meta. After yet another day of a Facebook feed where literally every 2nd or 3rd post was an advertisement for every day crap like toilet paper, soap, cookies, cars I can’t afford, and other trash, I turned off my notifications. It’s been a few days and honestly, I’m not missing it. Instagram is the same. I was basically just shit posting and re-posting the madness that’s currently going on in this country. Nobody’s seeing it, nobody cares, so screw it. Don’t even talk to me about Twitter/X. Won’t touch that with any size pole.
Find me on YouTube (@rippc and @ripptechlabs) and Reddit (u/rippc). I’ll start using BlueSky (also rippc) more once I figure it out. It’s different but I think its got more promise.
